部分论文简要介绍

论文1

20242月,我校低碳经济研究所Udemba, Edmund Ntom博士以我校为第一署名单位在国际著名期刊Sustainable Development》(IF=9.9)发表了题为《The mediating role of green energy and environmental policies in sustainable development for BRICS economies: A tripartite impact of entrepreneurial activities, urban development and economic growth on ecological footprint》的研究成果。

英文摘要:Recently, the globe has been facing several challenges, and environmental deterioration has become more prominent. Therefore, to deal with such environmental issues, the globe has tried to introduce several green initiatives via the Kyoto Protocol, the Paris Agreement, and the Sustainable Development Goals, but the problem remains intact. However, practitioners have no more choice but to exclude emerging economies from this race. For instance, to understand the response of emerging economies toward a sustainable environment, this study considers BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) economies. Similarly, the current empirical study utilizes innovative environmental determinants such as real income, urbanization, entrepreneurial activities, per capita renewable energy, financial innovation and environmental policy for selected regions from 2000 to 2021. However, the findings of the advanced estimators' series show the significant contribution of per capita green energy consumption, environmental policy and entrepreneurial activities toward environmental sustainability. In contrast, income, financial inclusion and urbanization contribute to environmental damage. Because of green energy supportive behavior, this study makes an additional step to investigate the mediating effect on financial inclusion, environmental policy and entrepreneurship. However, the mediating effect only supports environmental policy and entrepreneurship activities to reduce environmental pressure. From the policy perspective, the specified economies should allocate their financial resources to clean & green projects to attain the desired level of sustainability.

论文2

20241月,我校低碳经济研究所Udemba, Edmund Ntom博士以我校为第一署名单位在国际著名期刊Journal of Cleaner Production》(IF=9.7)发表了题为《Demographic change effect on ecological footprint: A tripartite study of urbanization, aging population, and environmental mitigation technology》的研究成果。

英文摘要:This study examines the impact of disaggregated demographic changes on Russia's sustainable environment improvement and management. With expanded energy resources, high urbanization levels, accelerated industrialization, and tourism growth, Russia has become one of the world's most dynamic economies. Urbanization has accelerated deforestation in Russia and contributed to numerous environmental challenges. Urbanization explains demographic changes in the cities with respect to the increase in population sizes and structures due to rural-urban migration. On this note, this study adopts a population-environment-technology and development model to examine the sustainable environment of Russia. The model is extended to include environmental mitigation technology and financial development to buttress how to decarburise Russia's economy and environment and believes technological innovation and financial facilities via financial inclusion may help reduce environmental stress. Russia's data from 2000 to 2021 with different scientific approaches such as FMOLS, DOLS, CCR, and ARDL are employed to investigate the robust outcomes. Under the basic model, real income, urbanization, FDI and the rule of law significantly contribute to environmental damage. However, environmental mitigation technology (EMT) and financial inclusion perform well to mitigate environmental degradation. Due to the surprising role of EMT, this study also investigates EMT's mediating role on RI, urbanization and foreign direct investment. Consequently, the mediating role significantly contributes to the Russian economy's sustainability. In an extended form, other demographic features (population+15 and population+65) proved detrimental to the environmental development of Russia when analyzed with FMOLS. This is not far from the active engagement of the population in the bracket of the working population on the economic performance and the dependency ratio of the old population on the active and young population for survival. However, this study also employs the granger causality test, IPR and variance decomposition analysis for further validation. Following the outcomes, this study suggests some imperative implications to attain the desired sustainable level.

论文3

20241月,我校低碳经济研究所Udemba, Edmund Ntom博士以我校为第一署名单位在国际著名期刊Environment, Development and Sustainability》(IF=4.7)发表了题为《A comparative analysis of the drivers of environmental and human development aspects in the United States of America and China》的研究成果。

英文摘要:The significance of this study is the insight from comparing the largest economies in the world, i.e., the United States of America (USA) and China with the two most important aspects of sustainable development goals, the human development index (HDI) and environmental development and management. Hence, this study is significant in policy wise, by acting as a pace setting study in policy adoption by other economies that are looking up to the development patterns of the applied economies (the USA and China) in achieving their sustainable development goals. Quarterly dataset (2000Q12018Q4) for USA and China are utilized for this study. Relevant policy-based instruments (human development indexHDI, carbon emissionsCO2 emission, energy efficiency, education, entrepreneurial activities and trade) and scientific approaches (symmetric-autoregressive distributed lagARDL and Granger causality) are used in a two-model (models for economic welfareHDI and environmentCO2 emission) quantitative analysis. Findings show that energy efficiency, education, entrepreneurial activities and trade all have positive and negative links with HDI and CO2 emission, respectively, in both economies, thus pointing toward achieving sustainable development goals 2030. Findings from the Granger causality analysis support the ARDL results with feedback transmission between the instruments and the two indicators for sustainability. The only difference is the interaction that exists between HDI and carbon emission in each economy. In the case of USA, both economic welfare and environment are improving with negative link between HDI and CO2 emission which points to inclusive sustainable development for USA. However, a positive link exists between HDI and CO2 emission which means that economic development is maintained to the detriment of the environment. Policy insight from the result suggests that, while USA sustainable development is inclusive in nature (economy and environment), Chinas sustainable development is only rooted in economic development.

论文4

20236月,我校低碳经济研究所Udemba, Edmund Ntom博士以我校为第一署名单位在国际著名期刊《Environment, Development And Sustainability》(IF=4.7)发表了题为《Pathway to achieving carbon goal: Insight from interaction of export diversification, renewable energy, innovation, and financial policy》的研究成果。

英文摘要:Even though China has mapped out different policies targeting the mitigation of its environmental degradation, the country still occupies the 1st position in the ranking of carbon emissions due to excessive utilization of non-renewable energy sources in its domestic economic activities. From a theoretical and empirical point of view, factors like economic growth, financial development, export diversification, technological innovation, and renewable energy can be considered to play a vital role in environmental quality. Therefore, this study exposes the environmental performance of China amidst export diversification, financial development, innovation, and clean energy use. Due to the non-availability of data, the annual data of China are converted to quarterly data from 1995Q1 to 2018Q4, and autoregressive distributed lag-(ARDL) and Granger causality approaches are adopted in this study for quantitative and insightful analysis. The findings from both approaches expose the environmental implications of the selected variables (renewable energy, financial development, technological innovation, and export diversification) to Chinas sustainable development. ARDL approach has confirmed the inverted U-shaped link between financial development and emissions of carbon for China, a negative link between renewables, technologies, and carbon emissions, and a direct association exists between the diversification of export, economic growth, and emissions of carbon. This pattern points toward mitigating environmental dilapidation with renewable energy, technology, and financial development. The Granger causality output lends support to the ARDL findings; hence, a policy initiative that will promote the renewable energy sector and technological innovation through financial programs is advised.
